Have your say and help shape the future of Greater Adelaide. Community engagement for the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan (GARP) is now open.

Council is not leading this process; the State Planning Commission (the Commission) and Planning and Land Use Services are leading the GARP and community engagement process.

The draft Plan identifies a mix of greenfield growth areas, strategic infill and urban renewal sites, future employment land and environmental, transport and infrastructure opportunities and constraints. The GARP will replace the current 30-Year Plan for Greater Adelaide and determine how future urban growth will be managed. The GARP is divided into five themes:

    • People, housing and liveability
    • Productive economy
    • Natural resources, environment and landscape
    • Transport and infrastructure
    • Delivery and implementation

With six relating outcomes:

  • Outcome 1: More housing in the right places
  • Outcome 2: Liveable, accessible and inclusive communities
  • Outcome 3: A strong economy built on a smarter, cleaner future
  • Outcome 4: A greener, wilder and more climate-resilient environment
  • Outcome 5: An integrated and connected region
  • Outcome 6: Coordinated delivery of land use and infrastructure planning.

This consultation follows a previous engagement process in relation to the Greater Adelaide Regional Plan Discussion Paper which was held from 23 August 2023 to 6 November 2023.
