Modbury Bowling Club 10+10 Years Proposed Lease
Background
Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed new 10+10 years lease for the Modbury Bowling Club. The Modbury Bowling Club is located at 50-97 Jack High Lane, Ridgehaven and features two grass and two synthetic bowling greens, and a community club room building.
The Modbury Bowling Club has over 600 members consisting of full pennant, social, and night owl bowlers. During Winter they offer members and the community indoor bowls and social opportunities.
If approved, the proposal would mean that the Modbury Bowling Club will be granted a 10-year lease (as well as an option for a 10-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow the Modbury Bowling Club continued exclusive use of the building and bowling greens on Jack High Lane (see map to the right). There are no changes to the leased area.
The proposed lease tenure of 10+10 years is designed to provide the Modbury Bowling Club with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is envisaged a peppercorn lease will apply providing the club meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences to Sporting and Community Organisations Policy
