Update - Construction commencing during May 2021

The Bentley Skate Bowl redevelopment will be underway from mid-May. The is being managed by Trinity Skateparks and has an expected completion date of November 2021. The skate bowl will be closed for the duration of the works. The redevelopment of the skate bowl aims to deliver a new snake-run style bowl that provides active outdoor recreation and social opportunities for local youth and families. The upgraded bowl will cater for inline skating, skateboards, BMX and scooters and for all skill levels. New park furniture, shelters, tree planting and landscaping will also be delivered as part of this project.

Update - Council decision on 10 December 2019

At is meeting on 10 December 2019, Council considered the redesign concept proposal and supported the principle of an upgrade to the Bentley Reserve Skate Bowl at an estimated cost of $550,000. This project will be considered as part of the draft Capital Works Program for the 2020-2021 budget and external grant funding will be sought to contribute to the construction cost.

Council decision/outcome

This consultation closed on Monday 18 March 2019.

During the consultation process a total of 86 feedback forms were received, of these 58% indicated they would like to see the existing Skate Bowl replaced with another skate facility, while 22% indicated they would like to see something else in the space and 20% were unsure.

At its meeting on Tuesday 14 May 2019 Council considered the Community Engagement Outcomes Report which included the feedback received from the community. Based on the feedback received, Council made a decision to proceed with a minor redesign of the existing skate bowl (including: consideration of a deeper bowl, coping on edges and other skate elements determined as suitable for the space), a drinking fountain/water refuelling station and seating.

The next step for this project is to complete the redesign drawings and detailed construction costing, which will occur by the end of June 2019. Construction will be subject to Council’s capital works budget process in the 2020-2021 financial year.

Your ideas will be used to develop a masterplan that is confined to the current footprint of the skate bowl with no removal of trees. Other sections of Bentley Reserve will be remain the same.
