Further work on developing this action plan was put on hold to ensure it aligned with the introduction of the Disability Inclusion Act 2018 and the development of the State Disability Inclusion Plan.

The Disability Inclusion Act 2018 came into effect on 1 July 2018 and recognised that a stronger commitment to access and inclusion planning for people living with disability was needed. Under this Act “State authorities”, which include councils, SA Government Departments and other entities, must:

  • publish a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) by 31 October 2020
  • consult with people with disability when preparing a DAIP
  • include measures which provide for the diversity of people with disability especially women, children, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and people from culturally and linguistically diverse communities
  • explain how the DAIP will give effect to the priorities in “Inclusive SA, the State Disability Inclusion Plan 2019 – 2023”.

Council has developed a draft DAIP 2020-2024 which was endorsed by Council 25 August 2020. More information about the draft DAIP and the consultation process is available on the draft DAIP project page.

Background

The City of Tea Tree Gully is committed to ensuring, as far as practicable, that the community is accessible and inclusive for all people including:

' vulnerable groups or those at risk of social isolation such as people from culturally and socially diverse backgrounds, frail and aged people and people with disabilities, their families and carers'

We are inviting you to help us develop Council’s Community Wellbeing & Inclusion For All Action Plan to ensure all members of our community are healthy and safe, flourishing and feel a sense of purpose and living in a place that is a welcoming and accessible place to live.

We want to hear from all members of our community, particularly those who will be impacted directly by the action plan.

To get involved people were able to:
