The toilet block has been installed and work has started on constructing picnic facilities and seating, as well as additional tree planting and pathways.

Work has been completed on the new central car park and driveway access off Asgard Drive. The car park will be closed to vehicles overnight and the driveway includes speed humps to slow traffic when entering the park. Pedestrian safety fencing will also be installed along the central red footpath, where it meets the edge of the new car park, in an effort to prevent children running into the car park unattended. The use of the existing access driveway was subject to external traffic studies and was found to be suitable for the intended use.

It is anticipated that the Golden Fields Adventure playspace will be open in July 2023. Keep an eye on our website for further updates.

Adventure play is coming to Golden Fields!

Council recently received news that the State Government would contribute $750,000 to the $1.5 million project at Golden Fields, Golden Grove.

Golden Fields was established as part of the Golden Grove Development in the late 1980s. For the past 26 years the City of Tea Tree Gully has gradually developed this reserve into a highly utilised Regional Reserve.

What are we planning?

The new adventure playspace will be built in the lower section of the reserve and provide unique play opportunities for children aged 7 to 14 years. The development will also include an accessible toilet, street and park furniture, additional plantings, a car park for daytime use, and an access road.

The access road will come off Asgard Drive and provide a sealed access link, along with a shared use path to the playspace.

It’s anticipated that construction of the new playspace will commence in February 2022.

For more information, please refer to the high level concept plan which includes a map showing the location for the playspace and examples of ‘adventure’ style playspaces and equipment.

An Easy Read version of the project and high level concept plan is also available.
