Background

As part of the 2021-2022 Annual Business Plan, Council has allocated $140,000 for a new playground to be built at Kaplan Reserve, St Agnes. The location for the proposed playground is at the end of Uthwatt Court (see draft concept plan for site map).

The proposed plan includes:

  • Development of a new local level playground with a ‘nature play’ feel to the equipment to build on the natural character of the space
  • Establishment of a small turf or grassed area
  • Installation of new park furniture (seat and picnic setting)
  • General landscape improvements including additional tree and shrub plantings

If a playground was to be installed at Kaplan Reserve, an amendment would need to be made to the St Agnes Community Land Management Plan in which Kaplan Reserve is listed.

Before we take any further steps we would like to hear from the community about the playground proposal and draft concept plan and, if supported, views on the playground style proposed and/or ideas for other equipment.

SueD asked about 3 years ago

Hi SueD, thanks for your question.

Replacement of the steps leading up to Barlow Court is not part of this project. However, we will have staff inspect the steps to ensure they are safe and fit for purpose and, if necessary, arrange any works that may be required.

If you have any particular concerns about the steps, feel free to email or call us on 8397 7444.

    Kind regards, Sarah
