Background
Council is proposing to install a cricket training net on Baymor Reserve and we are seeking community feedback on this proposal. The provision to install such a cricket facility at Baymor reserve was included in the 2019-2020 Annual Business Plan, endorsed by Council at its meeting on 25 June 2019.
The cricket training net would be installed according to Cricket Australia's Community Cricket Facility Guidelines and consist of the following dimensions:
- 3.6m wide (synthetic cover to measure 2.4m wide)
- 22.12m wicket distance (can be up to 36m depending on the site)
- Cricket stumps to be placed 2m away from the back fencing to enable wicket keeping training activities
The training net would also include wire netting to enclose the facility and to limit the extent to which balls can hit into the reserve.
Installing a cricket training net to this reserve would require an amendment to the Community Land Management Plan for O'Bahn Linear park North which Baymor reserve forms part of.
More details about this proposal are available in the Information Sheet.
