Consultation has concluded

Council decision/outcomes

During the consultation period, a total of 87 responses were received. Of these responses, 79 were in support of the proposal, 5 people were opposed and 3 were neutral.

At its meeting on Tuesday 9 May 2023, Council considered the feedback received from the community and made the decision to approve the proposed location of the proposed new clubroom at Tilley Recreation Park and amend the relevant Community Land Management Plan incorporating the additional clubroom building.

Based on feedback received, Council staff further engaged with the Golden Grove Little Athletics Club to address concerns raised. The current masterplan investigations include an option for some minor excavations and retaining of the slope on the upper field that will offset usable green space lost by the new clubroom.

Background

Tilley Recreation Park is located on the corner of Hancock and Yatala Vale Roads, Surrey Downs. We are currently seeking feedback from the community about a proposed new clubroom building in Tilley Recreation Park.

Council are now proposing to build this new clubroom on the top pitch next to the John G Tilley Hall and existing car park. This new two-storey building design would mean a slight reduction of approximately 600m2 to the upper field area and a change to the adjacent car park to create a safer turnaround and drop off area.

Work on the rest of the masterplan is still underway and will be made available to the community to provide feedback on in the coming months.

The Community Land Management Plan (CLMP) for Tilley Recreation Park does not currently note the inclusion of an additional clubroom building at this site. Should the construction of this building in the location proposed be approved by Council, this CLMP would be amended to reflect this change. A draft CLMP for Tilley Recreation Park can be found here.

More information about this proposal is available in the Information Sheet.
