Council decision/outcomes

During the consultation period we received 37 responses regarding the draft DAIP. The feedback form contained a series of questions in relation to the draft DAIP, asking about the vision and how it aligns to their own vision for the City of Tea Tree Gully. There were also questions which asked people to consider the objectives under the four themes and to provide further comment on the extent they felt the objectives and proposed actions will help achieve the vision. Overall, the feedback received was generally positive and supportive. The detailed comments, particularly those received via submission, resulted in a small number of changes to the final DAIP document.

At its meeting on Tuesday 25 August, Council considered the Council Report and feedback received from the community and made the decision to endorse the Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-2024, as presented in the Council Report.

Background

The City of Tea Tree Gully has been engaged in disability access and inclusion planning and policy for a significant part of the past two decades. We are committed to ensuring, as far as practicable, that the community is accessible for all people including vulnerable groups or those at risk of social isolation such as people from culturally and socially diverse background, frail and aged people and people living with disabilities, their families and carers.

We are keen to seek feedback on the vision, outcomes and proposed actions outlined in the draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan (DAIP) 2020-2024.

The draft DAIP 2020-2024 is our plan for a thriving, inclusive community with a quality lifestyle where people living with a disability are valued and treated equally, with dignity and respect.

The draft Plan builds on the progress we have made to improve the inclusivity and accessibility of our city.

The draft DAIP 2020-2024 is an important document in our strategic planning framework that guides our decision-making, annual business planning and budgeting as well as the day-to-day management of our City.

We encourage our community to provide feedback on the Draft Disability Access and Inclusion Plan 2020-2024.
