Modbury Tennis Club 5+5 Years Proposed Lease
Background
Council is seeking feedback from the community about a proposed 5+5 years lease for the Modbury Tennis Club courts. Modbury Tennis Club is located at 26 Ashley Avenue, Ridgehaven, as part of the Modbury Sporting Hub Complex.
The playing options at Modbury Tennis Club vary from beginners up to senior players, and boasts 146 members across its social, junior and senior teams. It is one of the largest tennis clubs in the North Eastern suburbs.
If approved, the proposal would mean the Modbury Tennis Club will be granted a 5-year lease (as well as an option for a 5-year renewal extension at the sole discretion of Council). This would allow the Modbury Tennis Club continued exclusive use of the tennis courts at Ashley Avenue (as per the aerial map). There are no changes to the leased area.
The proposed lease tenure of 5+5 years is designed to provide the Modbury Tennis Club with longer term stability, encourage investment in facilities and promote their ongoing sustainability. It is envisaged a peppercorn lease will apply providing the club meets the criteria in the City of Tea Tree Gully’s Leases and Licences for Sporting and Community Organisations Policy.
For more information please refer to the Information Sheet and aerial map showing the location of the proposed lease area for Modbury Tennis Club.
