Modbury North story
My neighbourhood is great. I’ve lived here 35 years ( wow- time flies). Ups and downs happen and it’s great to have good neighbours that you have a good relationship with or can rely on. And also share bins with with when one of us has too much green waste or rubbish.
I have a few good neighbours. We share and vent about life and kids. The closest neighbour is one that has also been there a while now. Our kids have grown up together from birth to teenagers now. We are there when one of us has run out of an item for cooking, “ Do you have an onion or jar of pasta sauce? “ it is really helpful and reduces the stress when a neighbour says yes and you don’t have to run down the shop in the middle of cooking, when you realise a vital ingredient is missing. We have reminded each other of school functions or borrowed items when needed. Also looked out for each other’s kids- for example we have both had that time when our child has meant to let themselves in the house and forgotten their keys. We have socialised and shared important dates- even a wedding and the birth of babies. We have shared fruit off of full trees and one of my neighbours just recently came and got rid of a half dead rat in the backyrard- I was so grateful. Lol. We have also shared sewing patterns and just been there when each other has needed a well needed cuppa or a vent. I think neighbour day is a great idea. Gives us an excuse to get together. 😊
