Background

The Tea Tree Gully BMX Club has asked Council to consider the installation of permanent field floodlighting at the St Agnes BMX track, located at 240 Smart Road, St Agnes.

Council is proposing the installation of five (5) x 15 metre poles with 15 optiLED light fittings (3 fittings per pole) to achieve an average of 220 lux within the track area.

The total cost of the installing permanent floodlighting at St Agnes BMX track is $140,000. In the 2019/2020 financial year Council allocated $90,000 funding, the TTG BMX Club will contribute $25,000, with the remaining $25,000 from the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing Active Club grant program.

The installation of floodlighting at the St Agnes BMX track will assist the Club to increase its membership base and offer evening training sessions under lights.

Installation of permanent floodlighting at the St Agnes BMX track would require an amendment to the Community Land Management for St Agnes Recreation Area, in which the St Agnes BMX track is listed.
