Our Hero in thongs fighting fires

Last Year I was home with my son as my partner just went around the corner to help a friend. I was laying in my room watching TV with my 9-year-old son. He kept saying "Mummy I can Smell Smoke". At first, I just thought it was maybe a bush fire as we often get the smell of the smoke. Another 10mins went by and again he said: "Mummy it's getting really strong". I raced around the house but couldn't see any fire, by the smoke was coming through our ducted air conditioner vents. I ran outside as the only thing I could think of was our BBQ outside. When I was running out back door my neighbor from across the road was running towards the house. Our evaporative air-conditioner was on fire on our roof. I took my son straight to another neighbors house and called the fire department and my husband. I went back to my house and our neighbor was on the roof with thongs and hose putting out the fire. By the time my husband and the fire brigade arrived my neighbor had put out the fire and saved our house. We only had a bit of water damage and needed a new air conditioner.
